Expectations

If you are a woman with a background in choral singing, perhaps through high school, college or church choir, you are a perfect fit for Sola Gratia! Sola Gratia strives for excellence in choral singing. We believe that the message in our singing is best heard without the distractions that come from being inadequately prepared.  Because we often sing in four to eight parts, members are required to have basic reading skills and remain flexible about the part they are assigned to sing.  

Sola Gratia rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm at Strawbridge United Methodist Church in Kingwood, Texas in northeast Houston. Regular attendance at rehearsals is necessary due to the complexity of the music and our emphasis on stylistic phrasing and sensitivity.  

Sheet music and folders are provided for each member.  Singers are responsible for their music folder and must bring it to each rehearsal. 

We normally wear black pantsuits when we sing. Each member is responsible for purchasing their own pantsuit. Details will be provided upon joining.

We collect a biannual dues of $30 per member ($40 for two or more family members) to help defray the cost of music and supplies.

We encourage singers that have the desire and motivation to serve through music, and to improve their sight-reading skills and vocal technique to join us.  A brief audition will be held prior to joining to help with voice placement within the choir.  For further information please complete and submit the adjacent form or contact Meredith Koerner at sgratia.choir@gmail.com.
